Canada’s electricity sector is experiencing one of the most significant periods of growth and transformation in its history. Rising demand and accelerating investment in generation, transmission and distribution have made workforce capacity a critical factor in the sector’s long-term success. Meeting this challenge will take collaboration across industry, labour, education and government.
Illuminate marks the next chapter of EHRC’s signature annual event.
Formerly known as the Awards of Excellence, it combines workforce intelligence, thought leadership, networking and recognition to convene the people and organizations shaping Canada’s electricity workforce today and preparing it for tomorrow. The Awards of Excellence remain a cornerstone of the event, celebrating the individuals, teams and organizations defining the sector’s progress.

Recognizing the people powering our future
Since 2013, the EHRC’s awards have celebrated those making a meaningful impact across the sector. Finalists and winners represent excellence in leadership, workplace culture, innovation, inclusion, youth engagement, skilled trades and workforce development.
Award categories
The 14th Annual Awards of Excellence will be presented in the following categories:
- Leader of the Year
- Emerging Leader of the Year
- Excellence HR Innvation
- Excellence in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion *
- Excellence in Workplace Culture *
- Excellence in Youth Impact (NEW)
- Excellence in Skilled Trades Impact (NEW)
* This award is presented in two subcategories: Small and Midsized Enterprise; Large Organization
Nominations and finalists
Ready to nominate a leader, team or organization? Submissions are made online and reviewed by EHRC’s nomination review committee.
Finalists will be announced in November 2026. Recipients will be awarded at Illuminate 2027 on Feb. 17, 2027.
