Acknowledgement is a starting point to genuine reconciliation. This session moves past land acknowledgments and good intentions to examine what reconciliation demands of organisations. Through its polices, practices and on the ground experiences of Indigenous trainees across teams.

Grandmother Kim Wheatley
Grandmother Kim Wheatley (she/her), Ojibwe Anishinaabe Grandmother from Shawanaga First Nation
Anishinaabe Traditional Grandmother Kim Wheatley is Ojibway, Potawatomi and Caribbean in ancestry. A Turtle Clan band member of Shawanaga First Nation on the shores of Georgian Bay in Robinson Huron Treaty Territories, she carries the Spirit name “Head or Leader of the Fireflower” and has worked with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities across Canada for three decades. A multi-award-winning speaker, published author, hand drummer, singer, water walker, artist and ancestral knowledge keeper, Kim has appeared in books, magazines, television, radio and podcasts locally, nationally and internationally. Her work is dynamic, motivational and always inclusive, and is committed to forging good relationships aligned with reconciliation that honour the past, connect the present and contribute to the future.
