Position Summary
Canada’s electricity sector is experiencing significant growth and transformation. As Canadians electrify their homes and vehicles, integrate renewable energy technologies into the grid and embrace the impact of digital technology, it is crucial to bring together employers, unions, post-secondary institutions and policymakers to address the labour challenges confronting the sector.
Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) is working with its partners to build a world-class, safety-focused, innovative and inclusive electricity workforce.
The Project Coordinator supports national initiatives that connect employers with jobseekers, especially youth, newcomers and individuals from equity-deserving groups. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role involves administrative coordination, stakeholder engagement and process improvement. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about supporting Canada’s low-carbon future and collaborating with partners across the country.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the processing and filing of documents related to funding applications and contracts.
- Prepare and send correspondence to partner organizations and contacts on behalf of project team.
- Respond to phone and email inquiries, and maintain communication with project committees and stakeholders.
- Conduct monitoring calls and collect testimonials from participants and partner organizations.
- Update project records in the database software with all relevant information.
- Generate reports on project metrics such as participation numbers and geographic distribution.
- Review, code, validate and submit invoices, expense claims and payment requisitions to Finance.
- Support marketing efforts by drafting communications and assisting with outreach.
- Coordinate travel and hospitality arrangements in line with Treasury Board guidelines.
- Prepare agendas, plan meetings and events, and take and transcribe minutes for project committees and working groups.
- Occasionally, represent EHRC at industry events and speak to EHRC programs.
- Perform other duties as needed in a dynamic work environment.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree, college diploma or at least three years of related project and administrative experience in a professional service environment.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; must be comfortable dealing with internal and external clients in senior management positions.
- Strong knowledge of business support processes and tools, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimum supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and tact when dealing with sensitive information.
- Experience working on diversity, equity and inclusion projects is an asset.
- Knowledge of the electricity industry is an asset.
- Experience working in partnership with local, provincial or federal government departments is an asset.
- Ability to work in English, fluency in French is a strong asset.
Work Environment
- Ottawa-based, hybrid work environment (minimum 3 days in office per week).
- Small office with a team of about 15 staff.
- Close to public transport, paid parking available and local amenities nearby.
- Some travel across Canada is required.

Compensation and Benefits
- One-year contract with automatic conversion to permanent upon successful completion of year one deliverables.
- Salary: $50,000 to $57,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- 15 days of paid vacation annually, 1 paid volunteer day and 3 bonus days in December.
