Position Summary
Canada’s electricity sector is experiencing significant growth and transformation. As Canadians electrify their homes and vehicles, integrate renewable energy technologies into the grid and embrace the impact of digital technology, it is crucial to bring together employers, unions, post-secondary institutions and policymakers to address the labour challenges confronting the sector.
Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) is working with its partners to build a world-class, safety-focused, innovative and inclusive electricity workforce. A key area of our work is convening stakeholders through events and using those events as a core marketing channel to increase awareness, engagement and participation.
The Marketing and Events Officer is responsible for planning and delivering EHRC’s portfolio of events, webinars and stakeholder convenings across Canada in virtual, in-person and hybrid formats. This role also supports EHRC’s marketing efforts, with an emphasis on event-led marketing and paid promotion that drives registrations, partner visibility and audience growth.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver EHRC portfolio of events (conferences, webinars, roundtables and stakeholder meetings) across Canada in in-person, virtual and hybrid formats.
- Manage end-to-end event logistics, including registration workflows, agendas and run-of-show, venues, catering, audiovisual, travel, accommodation and on-site execution .
- Produce webinars from setup through delivery, including technical rehearsals, speaker support and live moderation.
- Coordinate EHRC’s participation in external events, including submissions, registration, travel, shipping and organizer communications.
- Execute event-led marketing to drive registrations, attendance and stakeholder engagement through targeted outreach, partner promotion and campaign tactics aligned to EHRC brand standards.
- Plan and execute paid promotion for events (advertising/boosts/paid listings) in alignment with the master editorial calendar and channel standards.
- Coordinate event promotion content with the Communications Officer to ensure calendar fit, consistent messaging and clean handoffs for publishing across web, email and social
- Support sponsor and partner fulfilment tied to EHRC events by coordinating recognition and deliverables (slides, signage, acknowledgements and other commitments).
- Manage event budgets, timelines and event tools, and complete post-event follow-up including surveys and debriefs.
- Ensure events are inclusive and accessible by applying inclusive design and accessibility best practices.
- Track and summarize event performance metrics (registrations, attendance, engagement, satisfaction) and contribute insights on a regular basis.
- Represent EHRC at industry events and support on-site logistics.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an organized and detail-oriented events and marketing professional, who thrives on delivering high-quality stakeholder experiences. They are confident managing complex event logistics and using event-led marketing, including paid promotion, to drive registrations, engagement and partner visibility.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience coordinating events, conferences, webinars or a related role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics across in-person, virtual and hybrid events.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience with partners, vendors and sponsors.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering on time and within budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Proficiency with webinar and event platforms (e.g., Zoom), CRM systems, survey tools and digital marketing tools.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive event design is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Event Management or a related field is an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset and strongly preferred.
Work Environment
- Ottawa-based, hybrid work environment (minimum 3 days in office per week).
- Small office with a team of about 18 staff.
- Close to public transport, paid parking available and local amenities nearby.
- Some travel across Canada is required.
Compensation and Benefits
- One-year contract with possibility of extension.
- Salary: $60,000 to $68,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
