About Electricity Now
Electricity Now is a national, bilingual education resource for grade 9/10 students that explores the connection between electricity and climate change. Developed by Electricity Canada and EHRC and supported by the electricity sector, it aligns with the Pan-Canadian Science Protocol, national curriculum guidelines and the Smarter Science Framework. The program includes six interactive modules with 13 lessons featuring hands-on activities, multimedia content and teacher guides—all available in editable digital formats.
Launched in November 2024, Electricity Now supports youth education and career awareness while addressing key challenges across government, industry, and education. Offered by participating utility service providers (Power Partners). As national rollout continues, the initiative is currently active in 294 high schools across 19 school boards, reaching over 660,000 students—with the potential to engage up to 9 million youth nationally by 2050.
