I am Leah Deckers I’m a transmission

operator supervisor and I work for

header one my day-to-day job I operate

the Ontario power system I work in a

control center we’re a 24 7 environment

so I come in I log in and I monitor the

power system or complete any outages

that we have going on planned or

unplanned

the thing I love about my job is that

every day when I come in it’s different

people just think that there’s line

workers out there but there’s a lot of

people that go into delivering power

every day it’s a key thing in everyone’s

life so it’s really good to be a part of

something that everyone’s using everyone

knows what it is everyone needs it if

you want a job where you’re learning

something new every day working with

great people this would be the kind of

job that would be for you

As part of its mission to strengthen the ability of the Canadian electricity industry in meeting the current and future needs of its workforce, EHRC is committed to implementing an educational, creative, and engaging program that will help elevate renewable and non-GHG-emitting energy within the national consciousness.

Focused on engaging all Canadians, and in particular young Canadians, EHRC’s Greening a Generation project will highlight electricity’s importance in our energy sector in addition to providing a guideline as to how the electricity industry will be available to young Canadians as a vehicle to address key issues as well as we provide career opportunities in the electricity and renewable energy sector for years to come.
