my name is alen Maynard and I am an

electrical engineer in

training a huge benefit of being a

Consulting engineer is that you get this

breadth of projects whether it’s working

on a roller coaster working at a

woodmill working on a solar farm every

day is a little different and every

client’s a little different and you just

get to see so

much in my job I’ve gone to work on a

solar farm which is in a remote

indigenous Community it is going to help

displace 10% of their diesel fuel

consumption bring jobs to the area and

help make the world a little bit Greener

just working at a desk didn’t appeal to

me but getting to actually talk to a

client hear what they’re looking for

brainstorm with them come up with

different solutions and then create

those Solutions and in the end have

happy clients who have what they want

and I got to have a hand in creating

that has been really

amazing any young woman who is currently

considering engineering I would say go

for it I love it and I really appreciate

my job and what it’s been able to let me

see and do and

About the Greening a Generation Program

As part of its mission to strengthen the ability of the Canadian electricity industry in meeting the current and future needs of its workforce, EHRC is committed to implementing an educational, creative, and engaging program that will help elevate renewable and non-GHG-emitting energy within the national consciousness.

Focused on engaging all Canadians, and in particular young Canadians, EHRC’s Greening a Generation project will highlight electricity’s importance in our energy sector in addition to providing a guideline as to how the electricity industry will be available to young Canadians as a vehicle to address key issues as well as we provide career opportunities in the electricity and renewable energy sector for years to come.
