my name is Kali government and I’m a dam
safety engineer with transalta
well a big part of being a dam safety
engineer is managing our risk profile I
work on identifying those risks and
mitigating them so we’re helping keep
our workers safe our operators safe but
we’re keeping the public safe as well
we have to know about geotechnical
aspects civil aspects structural assets
Hydraulics a large part of my job is
also getting out to the field getting
out to our facilities
I get to come out to some really
beautiful spots in the mountains
we have a mechanical engineer an
electrical engineer and a dam safety
engineer and they’re all female which is
something I’ve never had before in my
career which I really appreciated
working with a bunch of talented ladies
if you care about the environment you
care about sustainability get an
engineering degree
